APROXITY

APROXITY is a physical and digital product by ELSE ARTS that connects objects such as cars, bags or spaces to a controlled digital identity through NFC and QR.

A digital layer for physical things.

The software and the physical artefact are in active development. The first use case is reaching the owner of a parked car.

What is APROXITY?

An APROXITY artefact is a thin physical object with an NFC tag and a QR code. Both lead to the same web page that represents the object.

The page explains what the object is and offers a relevant action, such as sending a message to the owner, without revealing the owner’s phone number or other contact details.

The permanent identity of the object is separated from the content shown on its page, so the owner can change what is visible without replacing the object.

Why APROXITY exists

Physical things often need a way to communicate: a parked car that blocks a gate, a lost bag, a shared space. Printing a phone number on them exposes the owner. APROXITY offers a controlled layer instead.

APROXITY: principles

  • URL onlyThe NFC tag stores a link, not personal information. Scanning the QR code leads to the same place.
  • Controlled disclosureContact details are not published by default. The visitor gets an action, not the owner’s data.
  • Owned identityEach object is claimed by its owner through a private step. The public identifier on the object grants no control over it.

How APROXITY works

  1. The artefact is attached to an object such as a car, a bag or a door.
  2. Someone taps it with a phone (NFC) or scans its QR code.
  3. A web page shows what the object is and the actions its owner allows.
  4. The owner receives the message without exposing their contact details.

Characteristics of APROXITY

  • Physical artefact
  • NFC and QR access
  • Web-based object identity
  • Controlled, privacy-aware communication
  • No app required for the visitor

APROXITY and ELSE ARTS

APROXITY is a venture developed and owned by ELSE ARTS. The studio designs the physical artefact, the digital product and its identity, with privacy treated as a design constraint.

Questions about APROXITY

What is APROXITY?

APROXITY is a product that links a physical object to a controlled digital identity through NFC and QR, so people can communicate through the object without exposing personal contact details.

Who develops APROXITY?

APROXITY is developed and owned by ELSE ARTS, an independent design and technology studio based in Prague.

Does the NFC tag contain personal data?

No. The tag stores only a link to the object’s page. What the page shows is controlled by the owner.
