What is MONUPO?
Each MONUPO artefact is a framed, 3D-printed relief of real terrain, combined with a printed graphic and text layer. The relief is generated from elevation data for the selected area.
Route-based pieces take a GPX track and render the actual route and its real elevation profile. The design is constrained by what the data and the production process can truly deliver.
MONUPO is treated as a design product: a fixed system of composition, proportion and negative space, personalised by the place and the story rather than by decoration.
Why MONUPO exists
People keep strong attachments to specific places: a summit, a race route, a lake, a home. MONUPO gives that personal geography a precise physical form instead of a photograph or a souvenir.
MONUPO product directions
- PLACEA specific place rendered as static terrain: a mountain, a valley, a coastline, a home landscape.
- ROUTEA route, typically from a GPX file, shown on the relief together with its real elevation profile.
- FISHINGA fishing location paired with a record of the catch, such as the species and its length or weight.
How MONUPO works
- A place or a route is chosen. Routes can be supplied as GPX files.
- Terrain and route data are prepared and composed into the MONUPO layout.
- The terrain relief is 3D printed; the graphic and text layer is printed separately.
- The relief and graphic layer are assembled in a frame as a single artefact.
